I spent most of the week working, handling samples and tying up loose ends so this Friday is like a mini tour guide of some of my favorite spots just in time for the weekend!
The Best Place to Put Your Nose in a Book
This one hits on many Los Angeles travel lists but it's a goody. The Last Bookstore in Downtown is amazing. Stack and stacks of books, you go in just to look and end up leaving with five fashion novels you didn't even know existed. I scored titles like The House of Gucci, Dior in Vogue and the Fashion File. Upstairs is an even more maze like area of sic-fi and books just for decoration, as well as a few mini galleries with some great art.

The Best Place for Some Weird Gifts
Wackos in Los Feliz is great for when you need essential oils, candles, a new book and some fun keychains. This store literally has a little bit of everything and is always great for finding something for that someone who has everything. I picked my mom up some tin pressed metal star charms for her new home and a hotel key to the Bat Cave for my dad.
The Beat Place for a Little Magic
I could spend all day in Silverlake and I was thrilled when I found the rainbow heart stairs nestled in the neighborhood. Part of the old staircases that people used to cut across the inclines of the city, someone painted each step a different color and added huge hearts to them. I love just visiting them or hiking to the top and enjoying the modern homes in the neighborhood.

The Best Place to Just Hang Out
Some days I just need to get out of the studio and don't feel like going all the way to the beach. So my next favorite spot is Echo Park, it's a great place to lay out a picnic, drink some coconut water and read a good book. Or the easy loop around the lake is great for an afternoon stroll with the pups. On the weekends you can find venders selling street corn, soda and other snacks, so you can grab a light bite of food from the Boathouse restaurant, I personally love the french toast bites.
